Jake Thiesen first started his culinary journey as a sophomore at UNL. Jake was watching a lot of food network, one of his favorites was Emeril Lagasse. He was working at Firethorn Golf Club in Lincoln when he was told he had a passion for cooking. Jake soon applied and was accepted to the Art Institute of Colorado in Denver. There he learned attention to detail and how to keep a clean work space. Along with presentation, he was once told “you eat with your eyes first” and it stuck with him throughout his culinary career. One of his favorite culinary terms is “mine en place” which means putting in place, to be ready at all times or to have all ingredients ready for service.
Jake was very excited to work at one of the best golf clubs in the United States, Sand Hills Golf Club. The last five years Jake has been privileged to cook for a great membership and some celebrities along the way.
He is looking forward to starting this new venture and to bring quality and eye-appealing plates to the Lincoln community and beyond. Jake is also very excited to share this exciting journey with his soon-to-be wife Stacia. When Jake is not working he likes to cook at home, enjoy good wine, play golf and enjoy life with family and friends. One of his favorite things to do on a daily basis is to learn. “The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you” B.B. King.
